Book Page Decoupage Pumpkins

Book Page Decoupage Pumpkins

This Fall is all about Pumpkin Makeovers for me and I love sharing them with y’all! This book page decoupage method is super affordable, quick and easy…all of my favorites!

I used a set of 6.5” orange pumpkins from my Fall decor stash from last year for the project. I cut the stem out using a carpet knife, then these little orange pumpkins got a quick coat of white spray paint. I spray painted them for a good base color for the book pages so there was no chance of color bleeding through. These pumpkins are also available in white if you want to skip this step!

While the pumpkins were drying, I cut the book pages into strips. I used strips ~1 inch wide for this project to correlate with the size of the striations on the pumpkins. You can adjusts the sizing to whatever you choose, I just personally find it much easier to work with smaller strips. When cutting the strips, I tried to avoid “blank” areas on the page and used the parts with the most words on the strip.

I also think its much easier to work with thinner book pages like the ones found in paperbacks. These law books had small inserts in the back that almost had a newspaper like quality. (If anybody remembers what a newspaper is! Ha!)

Matte Modpodge

Once the pumpkins were dry, the decoupage process was simple! I brushed a layer of Matte Modpodge over the small section I wanted to work on, applied the strip of book page, then applied another layer of decoupage on top. When applying the top layer of decoupage, make sure to cover the edges and press them down gently as needed to ensure the edges are secured to the pumpkin. Some small wrinkles may develop but I think this adds to the character!

Each pumpkin took about 20 minutes to complete so the project was very easy to finish in under 2 hours from beginning to end! I made a short Reel on Instagram that you can watch here and a full video tutorial will be available on my YouTube Channel very soon! I’ll keep you updated! I’d love to see your projects on social media so please tag me in your pumpkin makeover!
